For this project we were required to read the book Brave New World this book was about how happiness is presented and what was wrong with it. There was a bunch of sex, drugs and strange new things. This really opened my eyes to what our world is today. For our final project my partner and I wanted to do something different than a video so we wanted to do a mural. This was extremely fun and hard. We worked for about a week on this and decided to make a woman who was holding up the world and a bunch of people at her feet. This was a great way for me and caitlyn to practice our art skills.
1. What is the truth of happiness? The truth of happiness to me would be meaning, I think in order to feel some kind of happiness you must first find something that brings you meaning in you life. If thats a child or some kind of actvity that gives you this sense of meaning than I think that is what happiness is. in Stanford Research it says "Happiness was linked to being a taker rather than a giver, whereas meaningfulness went with being a giver rather than a taker," this is saying that in order to be happy you must have some kind of meaning. through this project I was required to start looking at happiness though a whole new perspective. This was a strong chance for me to discover what the thrush of happiness was for me. 2. What was the greatest challenge you faced in this project and how did you work through it? There were many challenges during this project like how I was required to read Brave New World, which reading is not my forte, but I also had some pretty strong due dates which were very hard to meet. For my final project was to create a mural that represented what community happiness is. This was very hard for both me and my partner to do because of the one week we were given to complete it. We both worked though this by staying after hours and taking extra time to work on it which was very hard to do. We both work really well together and we both had a great time working on it. 3. How have you grown as a group worker in this project? Through this project I worked with many groups, for example for brave new world we had to work in groups several times. I myself work way better in a group than I do alone, so when I heard it was a group project I got very pleased. At first I was going to go solo but than my friend caitlyn decide we wanted to be a group. I think that this project was a great way to find out if we work well together or not. We were both very dedicated to the project and took it very seriously. This was a great way for me to test my partner skills. 4. If you could refine any part of this project what would it be? I wish that I could've refined my happiness experiment just because there were a few things that sara had commented on which would've made my experiment a little bit better. my experiment was super simple and could've made a little impact, but I waned to try to see how and what peoples daily lives were about, to see if they were truly living a happy and meaningful life.
